Chong Aik International Pte Ltd

Best fit if you are buying a Shoei lid, a Cardo unit, or a full kit of riding apparel and want the staff to size you properly rather than rush you out. Plan a weekday visit if you need the Cardo paired to your helmet on the spot. Bring the helmet you want it installed on and ask the staff to walk you through pairing before you leave the shop.

The lowdown. Motorcycle gear shop on Desker Road in the Central Area, a short walk from Rochor and Jalan Besar MRT. The bread and butter is helmets, Cardo comms units, riding jackets, pants and gloves. You can try gear on in store, ask for sizing help, and get a Cardo fitted onto your lid before you leave. There is also an online store if you want to check stock before making the trip.

What riders say. Shoei is the helmet to come here for. Walk in, try on a GT-Air 3, an X-15 or whatever fits your head shape, and the floor staff will run you through models and foam-size swaps without pushing the sale. Ask for Deneyvi or Angela. Both get singled out for patient sizing, clear product explanations and accommodating last-minute walk-ins close to closing.

Cardo PackTalk and Edge units sell well, and the shop will pair and install onto your helmet. Two things to plan around. Cardo installation is weekday-only, even when the shop looks quiet on a Saturday, so phone ahead before making a weekend trip. Install is charged per helmet, and helmet adapters cost extra. Ask for the full price upfront before you hand over the unit.
