More detail: the full write-up
Best for owners of older or higher-cc Japanese bikes who want a thorough job, transparent pricing and a mechanic who explains the diagnosis. Not the place if you want cheap, fast or a quick scooter service. If you are buying a used bike off them, get every defect and fix written into the deal and test-ride before paying. For an engine rebuild on a tired RVF or Hayabusa, this is one of the few shops in Singapore worth the trip.
The lowdown. Motorcycle workshop tucked into Ubi Road 1, inside the Kampong Ubi industrial estate. Clifford runs the floor with a small crew of long-tenured mechanics, his wife at the front. The shop covers servicing, engine overhauls, electrical revivals, carburettor tuning and suspension work, with Ohlins and Hyperpro fitments handled in-house. Older Japanese bikes are clearly the comfort zone.
What riders say. Clifford is the centre of gravity here. He still works on bikes himself, diagnoses with the customer present, breaks down parts and labour line by line and sends WhatsApp photos and videos at each stage of a teardown. Big jobs get a check-in call before any expensive purchase. No hard sell on vanity upgrades.
The work that repeats: top overhauls, full engine rebuilds, carburettor tuning, clutch plates, suspension swaps, electrical fault hunting on older bikes. RVF and VFR400 owners route here specifically because Clifford rides and rebuilds them himself. Hayabusa engine work and Silverwing GT top overhauls also come up. Genuine parts are sourced from Japanese distributors nearby, sometimes ordered direct from Japan when local stock runs out. Turnaround is usually a few days for major work.
Cheap mechanics treat symptoms. Good mechanics treat the root cause.
It is not the cheapest shop and it is not fast. One used-bike purchase went badly: a missed IU reconnection and a kinked throttle cable surfaced after handover, with limited follow-up from the front desk. If you buy a secondhand bike here, insist on a test ride on the complex and a written check before paying.
Good to know.- Walk in for diagnosis, but expect a wait. Mechanics work slowly on purpose.
- Major jobs get WhatsApp photo and video updates throughout.
- Genuine parts are the default. Special-order from Japan is possible.
- Strong fit for older Japanese big bikes: RVF, VFR, Hayabusa, FJR, V-Strom.
