More detail: the full write-up

Best for big-bike owners who want one mechanic across the life of the bike. The fit is sharpest for riders doing long-distance trips and needing a thorough pre-departure check. European twins, adventure bikes and litre-class sportbikes are all in Hamka's wheelhouse. The caveat is pricing transparency on diagnostic-heavy jobs. Get the quote itemised in writing before you say yes, and you will walk out happy.

The lowdown. Multi-brand motorcycle workshop tucked inside AutoBay@Kaki Bukit, unit #02-45. Run by Hamka, who does the diagnosis and the wrenching himself. Day to day it covers servicing, oil and seal work, electrical fault-finding, clutch resurfacing, parts replacement and pre-trip checks for riders heading up north. Big bikes and small, European and Japanese, all come through the same bay.

What riders say. Hamka is the draw. Owners of BMW R1200GSA, S1000XR, Ducati, KTM and Honda CRF1000L keep coming back to the same mechanic. Yamaha Super Tenere and Fazer8, Suzuki GSX-R1000, Kawasaki ZX-14R and Harley Sportster 883 riders also stick with him. Pre-trip servicing before Thailand and Mae Hong Son runs is a recurring job, and bikes return without breakdowns. Electrical gremlins get traced and fixed, including last-minute saves the day before a ride out. Old parts are kept aside for the customer to inspect after a job. The shop reads as homely rather than showroom, with honest advice and no upselling pressure.

Hamka was a man on a mission to solve the issues for me and wasn't going to give up.

The friction sits on the billing side. Diagnostic, fault-finding and labour can be billed as separate line items on the same job. One quote stacked to over $500 on an older customer's bike. Get the diagnostic fee, labour rate and parts pricing confirmed in writing before you authorise work.
